When to introduce solids

Infants tend to adjust more quickly to solids introduced at around 6 months of age, moving from a few teaspoons to around ½ a cup of food in about 7 weeks. Throughout the first year of life breast milk or formula milk make up the majority of the babies nutrition, the introduction of solid food helps meet a growing babies needs for a number of nutrients, especially iron, zinc and vitamin D.
